MLA Study Tour visits Kerwee Feedlot

Recently a delegation of 5 Japanese meat industry professionals travelled to Australia as part of a study tour organised by the MLA . The five were chosen from a pool of 30 applicants to gain practical exposure to the Australian beef industry, and visited 3 abattoirs, a breeding facility and Kerwee feedlot. The content of the program was extensive, and covered the history of the Australian beef, specifications, lotfeeding and other topics designed to provide a broad overview of the industry. The study group members were also able to visit the MLA Sydney office, as well as attend a cutting demonstration and sample some of Stockyard’s Black label Wagyu and Gold Label Long Fed beef. One of the group members said that Stockyard beef was the best he tasted during his trip to Australia, with exceptional marbling, tenderness and taste.
